Last Sunday we discussed what security Jesus Christ offers us in a world out of control. Those who know Jesus have a great gift to give to others who are floundering in the sea of life looking for an anchor who can hold them securely. Acts 10 tells the story of Peter who was called to leave his comfort zone in order to witness to others. Write your comments to the sermon below or answer the following questions:
1. What stands in our way of witnessing for Jesus?
2. The Holy Spirit must move in the one who witnesses and the one who will receive the message of Jesus. How does he usually move in you to reach out to others for Christ?
3. Can you give an example of someone you have witnessed to?

Last Sunday we were challenged by the Lord to use the gifts and talents the Lord has given us to serve others. Romans 15:13-17 reminds us that we are filled by the Spirit to OVERFLOWING, and that the combined knowledge, gifts and experiences of the church members is sufficient for us to instruct one another so, don't just enjoy God for yourself, share him by serving others!
Write your comment to the last sermon if you like or respond to the following questions:
1. Why is there so much to do for the Lord in the church but so few in the church who will do it?
2. We have sufficient wisdom and revelation of God to instruct one another in our faith so we can grow togther in grace then why do people hesitate to share their knowledge and experience of the Lord with others?
3. Our children are especially neglected if we don't fulfill our promises to raise them in the faith. What kind of long-term effect will this have on the church?

Spiritual Strength is something we long for, like someone who knows they need to get in shape but also knows that the training is not going to be easy. Well, for us who are looking to get our Spiritual lives in shape there is one source of Strength, one source of Power, our trainer, the Holy Spirit. Listen to the message or read over Ephesians 1:13-23 and comment below answer any of the following questions based on last Sunday's service:
1. How is the Holy Spirit a deposit, guaranteeing our full salvation in Jesus Christ and how does that guarantee give us strength to face each day?
2. The power that is our in the Holy Spirit is, as the Bible says, like the power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead. How does Christ's resurrection manifest itself in our lives?
3. Ephesians 1 reminds us that Jesus Christ has authority over every power in the universe. Why do we forget this at times and how does forgetting weaken our spirits?

Sunday was a day to reflect on our spiritual condition before the Lord and admit that we are spiritually weak, overcome, beat down by so many trials that we adopt a defeatest / apathetic attitude toward life in general and toward God in particular. Hebrews 12 reminds us to "Throw off everything that hinders" our spiritual journey, the "race" to which we are called and to disentangle ourselves from sin that weakens our spiritual condition too. Listen to the message and post a comment or, respond to any of these questions:
1. What are the signs of spiritual weakness, immaturaty?
2. Read over Psalm 32 again and comment on how David deals with the sin that weakened him.
3. Confessing our weakness before the Lord is an important first step, reclaiming HIS strength is our goal. How do the spiritual disciplines of prayer and the reading of scripture aid in both confession and strengthening?

This past Sunday, August 1, we celebrated the Lord's Supper together as a Family gathered around the table.
Many of us have experienced meals with our own families that have been less than "Happy Meals" due to disagreement or arguing yet, we always come back to the table the next night ready to enjoy a meal together again because, after all, we are family. So it is with the Family of God. We may not always agree on everything but we are family, made brothers and sisters by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Ephesians chapter 4 explains how to build up our unity as a family. Listen to last week's sermon and comment or answer any of these questions:
1. How can we best deal with our different opinions of issues in the Spirit of Jesus Christ?
2. What does it mean to "speak the truth in love"?
3. At the Lord's Table we were reminded how God forgives us for not agreeing with him. How should this effect our relationship with those we disagree with?

The last of our series on "Reformed Headlines" - a Biblical View of the news - focused on the over abundance of bad news. It was amazing how many of us not only hear about bad news (the criminal kind that threatens our safety and wellbeing) but have first-hand experience as victims of violence. So, does God want us to live in fear and paronoia, not trusting anyone? If you want to read Psalm 27 again for just respond to what you remember from the sermon, add your comments below or answer one of these questions:
1. How has God become for you your light, salvation and stronghold?
2. What are some practical ways we can live fearlessly in the comfort of God's presence?
3. Freedom from fear also means freedom to die fearlessly should we become victims of extreme violence. What comfort do we have in Jesus that replaces the fear of death with faith that overcomes even the fear of death itself?

This past Sunday we took a break from the Newspaper, E-mails, TV, Work, TO-DO lists, etc. and reminded ourselves of God's great gift to humanity, Sabbath Rest (Exodus 23:12) in light of Summer Vacations. Feel free to respond to any part of the message or answer one of these questions:
1. If Sabbath rest is meant to be holy, how can we make our days of rest (long weekends, vacations) holy?
2. How did you experience the Lord in a special way during one of your recent vacations?
3. How do work-a-holics disobey God's command to rest?

Last week we concluded our study on prayer by reading Luke 10:1-12 and discussed praying for God's Kingdom on
Pentecost Sunday.
Write your comments on the message or answer one of the following questions:
The Holy Spirit is the one who qualifies us for the work he calls us to do for him. What qualities of the Holy Spirit do you think are the most important for work in the church, home, school, work-place?
The Holy Spirit equips us to announce that the Kingdom of God is near. How can we communicate the nearness of God's Kingdom and the implications of the return of Jesus Christ to those we associate with?
